What organic farming on vineyard?
The organic system has the aim of protecting to the maximum the ecosystem (the soil) and health (the man).
It results from the combination of a whole of practices aiming at developing the interactions between the vine, the ground and the climate, through the use of respectful methods of the environment.
The double objective of this voluntary step is, on the one hand, to make evolve/move the regulation and on the other hand, to provide to the consumer the insurance to find products certified biological, vine with the bottle.
Two great principles of the organic vineyard
- to cultivate the vines without chemicals of synthesis;
- being certified by an approved organization by the Ministry for Agriculture.
Lastly, all the wines resulting from the organic farming are controlled and certified each year. Thus the rate of control of the organic winegrowers is currently one of highest of all the modes of production agricultural.
Which are the principal points of the organics wines charters
The charters of the organics wines fix the rules of the various stages of the development of the wines that since must until the setting in bottles, as well as the whole and the quantity of the products being able to intervene with each phase.
- Only can be used, in a minimal and reasoned way, the oenological products authorized, preferably pure.
- A certain number of products and practices, such as the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides of synthesis, products GMO or resulting from GMO, certain activators of fermentation, a too high sulfur content… are prohibited.
- A positive list of products and practices bring replacement solutions to the use of the prohibited products.
This step remains the guarantee of a true step of production.
She besides today is unanimously recognized by the whole of the die of the wine and the increase, each year, of the surface of the vineyard bio proves that she answers the increasing demand of respectful methods of the environment and the biodiversity.
Why is used the organic farming ?
If the object first of the organic farming is the respect of the ecosystem and health, other significant developments come to justify its existence:
- The organic culture is used to work out wines of quality.
The efforts made on quality, these last years, produce their fruits and the results are there: the wines bios are regularly preceded.
- It contributes to diversify and segment the offer out of wines.
- It makes it possible to create and preserve jobs.
The cultivation methods of the organic culture make necessary a regular follow-up of the vines, interventions reasoned and certain operations manual which, on the whole, require more labor than in conventional vine growing.
- It helps to protect the water resource: by not using a weedkiller, the biological vine growing strongly contributes to decrease the position risks of the ground water.
